Midweek message from retrohen

FIRSTLY, I would like to say a massive thank you to all the followers of retrohen. It gives me much pleasure that I am able to intrigue, entertain, and of course bring back fun, nostalgic memories for you to enjoy.

Secondly, and more importantly, we are all going through a challenging time due to the Covid-19 virus. I urge you all to keep safe and be sensible during this time. Even though we cannot visit our loved ones, luckily we can utilise the likes of Skype, Messenger, FaceTime, and of course, we have the telephone. Please don’t take any chances.

Thirdly, I want to update you on some changes coming along: I have been posting on this current platform, WordPress, since 2015. In 2019, WordPress notified its users that the overall layout when writing a post will change – it would be neater and easier using a new blocks format. The posts I’d written previously, dating back to 2015, were in the old format. Even though there is a function on WordPress to convert them to the new format, I have found the function riddled with issues: loss of paragraph structure, images going missing and YouTube videos not playing. As a result of this, I am in the process of putting my previous posts, one-by-one, onto the new blocks format.

So what does this mean for you? This week, starting on Friday, there will be 3 nostalgic posts published! These will be posts that were written a while ago, but have been updated onto the new format. Will the posts be the same as previous, word for word? The answer is no: whilst updating to the new format, I took the opportunity to jazz-them-up a bit and make them more fun whilst still keeping hold of the unique, nostalgic magic only associated with retrohen.

So, in summary, you will receive: 1 post on Friday, another on Saturday and another on Sunday.

As usual, please don’t hesitate to drop me a line if you have any queries or comments.

Finally, please keep on sharing the posts with friends and family who enjoy a trip down memory lane.

Keep well, keep safe and be sensible.

Kind regards

David Henningham (retrohen)
